The Tempest
The Tempest - by William Shakespeare, produced by Sevenoaks Shakespeare Society in 2003, directed by Phil Newton and performed at the Stag Theatre. Phil commissioned me to write a musical backdrop to the play, with themes for the characters, and to set the songs to music. The brief was to make Illyria an otherworldly place "full of mysterious noises"; Phil wanted synthesisers mixed in with instruments.
These pieces were created using Steinberg's Cubase VST 5 and Reason synths and samplers; a big cat for Ariel, storms, wind and rain, birds, dogs, bells, they're all here! The vocal parts are sung by Cathryn Short. These are just seven of the twelve pieces composed.
